Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Engineer to join our team in Baltimore. The Building Engineer will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of a large (400,000 sq. ft.) commercial building. This position requires a thorough understanding of safety practices, building systems, and general maintenance procedures. The Building Engineer must have strong problem-solving and communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Hours are M-F, 8 am to 4 pm. Salary dependent on skills and experience. $28-$39 per hour.

 

A typical day may look something like this:

  • General HVAC maintenance and repair of standard building equipment - Chiller operations, Cooling towers, and boiler maintenance
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly inspections of systems and associated equipment.
  • Perform preventative and general maintenance on a scheduled basis.
  • Maintain equipment to industry standards.
  • Diagnose and repair HVAC, plumbing and electrical problems as required and/or as assigned by supervisor.
  • Interface with building manager and other customer representatives in order to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC, electrical and security systems and associated hardware and equipment as directed.
  • Accurately document work performed on tickets and/or work orders.

Qualifications

So as much as we would love to hear from everyone, there are some specific things we are looking for in your profile. You might have:

  • General maintenance - chillers, AHU, induction units, generators, and cooling towers
  • Experience rebuilding pumps and motors
  • Must be familiar with BAS operations and fire alarm panels
  • Must have five (5) years experience in large commercial building
