Overview

Complete Building Services, a building operations and facilities maintenance company, is seeking a Building Engineer for a facility in Washington, DC. CBS is a division of The Donohoe Companies, Inc. - Washington's oldest real estate company. The role of the Building Engineer is to ensure the proper and safe operation and maintenance of the HVAC systems and subsystems.

 

The hours of this position are 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Monday - Friday.

 

Responsibilities

  • Operates, monitors, maintains and repair facility HVAC, steam, chilled water, sanitary, domestic water and medical utility support systems
  • Provides monitoring of facility operating systems using available Siemens Building Automation Systems
  • Conducts tours of building observing and correcting system operations
  • Maintain Mechanical/Electrical rooms and associated equipment in a clean/orderly condition
  • Executes testing of life safety systems, emergency power systems water treatment, elevators and other systems as required
  • Maintains watch log for each shift and reports outstanding deficiencies or actions taken to the Chief Engineer
  • Understands and participates in quality management standards and value added process improvement strategies to improve efficiencies
  • Execute the quality assurance program that will direct and control quality, training, safety, and in particular continuous quality improvement, identifying areas of possible process failures before they happen, if failures do occur, initiate immediate corrective action and long term solution
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations
  • Performs Quality Control inspections of all systems
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance and service calls as required during shift
  • Responds to service calls during shift hours
  • Acts as CBS senior representative at building during respective after hours shift
  • Cross-trained to operate and maintain one or more systems, which provide the facility heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration, steam or high-temperature water and electricity
  • Performs air volume/exhaust surveys and readings and assists with system-wide air balancing
  • Performs weekend DC 3rd Class Building Engineer Check per code
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Requires a valid DC 3rd Class Engineers license and 5 years' experience operating in a medical, laboratory or mission critical facility
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • Completion of 4-year HVAC Apprentice or equivalent training Program
  • Completed coursework in HVAC areas
  • Universal CFC Certification (written proof required)
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience with HVAC systems
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Able to lift up to sixty (60) pounds
  • Capable of ascending ladders up to a height of thirty (30) feet
